How to Cure Insomnia

Most people don’t know, is that I have insomnia (well I’ve accepted the fact that this kind of illness has terrorized lots of people not only me) mostly architect students who stays up late doing and finishing their plates and has caused havoc to our sleeping schedule.
It’s been months that I really couldn’t sleep nice at all, like one time I slept early around 9pm then suddenly woke up at around 12mn and not being able to feel sleepy again. This causes me headaches and makes me feel hungry all the time I end up eating and eating (though I’m not getting any fat which is augh!).
Here are some tips for those who have trouble sleeping too, I hope this works.. :)
  • Say NO to Coffee (I do love Starbucks, frappe, energy drinks but we need to say NO to caffeine if we want to fight insomnia, but for me I only lessen my caffeine intake for like once to twice a month only)
  • Exercise (pump up those muscles in the morning, a regular routine exercise improves sleep at night or so that’s what they say, but hey we all know exercise is good for us so run, sweat, stretch up just avoid exercising at evenings)
  • Relax and Unwind (we don’t want stress right? Who needs em! Drink a hot tea, take a bubble bath specially after a long tiring day at work, read your favorite book, watch your favorite movie, listen to a soothing music plan a trip to the beach, etc. Go take some day off)
  • Sex it up (this before bed time is prolly one of the checklist at night, according to studies that after intercourse a men’s body is flooded with Prolactin, a hormone that is high during sleep. Adding up Oxytocin - cuddle hormone makes men and women sleep soundly after the deed.) *wink
  • Do not take your gadgets to bed with you (I knew this is the root for my lack of sleep, as I’ve been sleeping with my iphone and laptop with me at bed (NERD-ALERT), according to research light-emitting devices engage and stimulate the mind results to poorer sleep. Blue-wavelengths coming from the gadgets decreases the production of Melatonin - the hormone that causes us to sleep)
  • Meditate (A must! Though not that easy, focusing and meditating may take a lot of practice for it to be done, so why not practice it now, take a deep breath and focus on that breathing, imagine you’re doing yoga, clear your thought and it might finally work)
  • Light a candle (one with some aroma on it as it relaxes and soothes the mind. Try lavender, roses it may do the trick)
Lastly,
  • Turn your computer off and go back to bed, try all of these tips and relax. :)

Good night!

Menchi Katsu at Yabu!

Here we go again! Second time at Yabu this week, aiming to gain weight as I've lost a few kilos over the last few weeks coz of months of preparation for Thesis Deliberation week. Now its finally over, I can now have the unlimited time that I need to bring back those few kilos that I've lost.
Seriously, I've been eating too much yet I don't gain much weight unlike the other girls, but I love that I get to eat as many food that I want and I also do love seeing those numbers getting high on that weighing scale (well not much of course) I'm also maintaining a balanced weight.
Anyways, talking about food makes me hungry again, but not with Yabu, after eating Rosu - 90g a while ago plus the unlimited cabbage, rice, soup (augh, think I'm getting sick) plus the Starbucks Blueberry Cheesecake and Salted Caramel Frappe that I ate after that makes me want to puke. Not because they're not good but because I've ate too much and the ride home was bumpy so that made my stomach act weirder (good thing I didn't along the way).
So yeah, Yabu is great. Will be back here for more of there Tonkatsu, plus I miss Jam already (server at SM the block), he's just so fluffy. :3

Spa Day at Momsie Kitty

Kitty Lounge

Kitty's Spa Room
Glow-in-the-dark nail polish

Wondering where this place is? No it's definitely not Japan, its just here in the Philippines within Marikina. This place is the boyfriend's new works place (family business perhaps) he manages the shop so I decided to pay a visit. There were not much customers that day because it was a weekday so I enjoyed the shop mostly to myself. I'm not a Hello Kitty fan but I actually enjoyed the service and ambiance there, I would totally come back, bring some of my friends and try out their other services.

Check out their FB page Momsie Kitty Spa

Kitties

Like I said, I'm a mother of two cats, named Sai (Siamese) and Shadow (black), all girls except for the one cat on the top pic that's my dad's cat named Tatum (boy).
I super love spending time with all of them. :)

Venturing Hidalgo

Bahay Nakpil

San Sebastian Church
As an Architecture student we are required to visit lots of historical sights as it is important for most of all our subjects pertaining to designs, forms, history, concepts, colors and all the other architectural stuffs existing.
Hidalgo is a part of Quiapo in Manila where most of the country's history took place. Along Hidalgo you can still see some of the vernacular houses there that was built 17th century and is still preserved by the owners that took credit by it, good thing for them, government doesn't even care about the preservation of the country's history (as I've observed) with all the modernity and technology today, lots of new buildings have been erected nearby and is deforming its historical image specially along 'Bahay Nakpil' or Nakpil Bautista's house. Bahay Nakpil was the home for all the Katipuneros/Heroes during the 1896 Revolution.
The reason that it's still standing today was because of the Bahay Nakpil-Bautista Foundation Inc. who took charge in caring and preserving the place, they wanted to fix and renovate/maintain its original architecture design which is Art Noveau.
Moving along the outskirts of Hidalgo at the end of the street is the San Sebastian Church, a Gothic-style architecture and is the only all-steel church in Asia, claimed as the only prefab steel church in the world. The materials used for the construction was manufactured from Belgium, while Gustave Eiffel - French engineer of Eiffel Tower in France and Statue of Liberty in New York; was involved in the design and construction of San Sebastian Church. (Lovely huh?)
You'd be more amazed if you visited the site yourself.
Please let us be more concern in the preservation of our historical surroundings as future generations can still enjoy and know more about it.
